The IRC in Boise invites you to celebrate Idaho Human Rights Day! Amina’s African Sambusas will offer a cooking demo, Homeyra from Sunshine Spice Cafe will lead a painting class, and Makata’s Dance will lead African Zumba! This is an all-ages, free event.* Join us!
SCHEDULE
4:00 pm: Sign in or sign up for workshops where space is still available. Painting class has very limited spots, but the dance and cooking demo are open to up to 75 people. Sign up in advance using the link below!
4:15 pm: Welcome guests and introduce community members! Hear from some of the IRC in Boise staff and resettled community members highlighting the importance of Idaho Human Rights day.
4:45 pm: Break off and head to workshops of your choice. Your options will be:
– AMINAS AFRICAN SAMBUSAS COOKING DEMO
Follow along with Amina and her sons as they show you how to make some of their favorite dishes served in their restaurant.
– MAKATA’S DANCE CLASS
Learn about the history of cultural African dance and be prepared to learn a Zumba routine from instructors from Makata’s Dancers.
– PAINTING WITH HOMEYRA
Enjoy some tea from Sunshine Spice café and follow along as Homeyra guides you through a step by step painting class centered around Idaho Human Rights day!
5:00 pm – Workshop #1 begins!
5:45 pm – Workshop #1 ends, 15 minute break before going to the next workshop of your choice. Each workshop will occur twice, so you’ll get a chance to attend 2 out of the 3!
6:00 pm – Workshop #2 begins!
6:45 pm – Workshop #2 ends, closing remarks from the IRC in Boise.
