The Idaho Japanese Association will host Japan Day 2024 on Sunday, September 22nd from 12pm to 4pm.

The 14th annual Japan Day is a family-friendly event to share Japanese culture in Idaho. It features display booths and Japanese performances such as traditional Japanese dance, Koto (Japanese harp), Sanshin, Taiko (traditional Japanese drumming), martial arts, Japanese mini games and more.

This year, we are excited to welcome special guests Rinsen Wakayagi and Mitsuki Dazai.

Rinsen Wakayagi is a Shihan-level Nihonbuyo dancer with 40 years of experience. She founded “Rin no Kai LA” and has performed extensively in LA. Formerly a Japanese Jidaigeki (Samurai play) actress, she established the NPO Pacific Theatre Production Corp to promote Japanese culture to youth globally and teaches Tea Ceremony and Kimono dressing in the US and Japan.

Mitsuki Dazai, a Koto master from Oregon, performs across Japan, the US, Europe, South America, and Canada. A graduate of Tokyo’s Kunitachi College of Music and the Sawai Koto Institute, she is featured in Shanti Samsara’s world music for environmental consciousness. Since 2002, she has also been a guest lecturer and artistic director of the Oregon Koto-Kai.
