It had been too long since Moscow native Josh Ritter visited us in studio. We were so excited when we learned he would be on the Main Stage at Treefort!
Josh lives in New York now, and has been working on new material.
When asked about songwriting, Josh said, “Writing is like a water you pour into a form.” Make sure you check out his novels.
Josh says this song reminds him of The Palouse.
When Josh isn’t on tour, he says he needs to stay busy. He does that with writing, and painting. When asked about a nonprofit he supports, he said “Unlock the Box,” they are trying to put an end to solitary confinement.
Josh gives the best hugs ever, and after our session he did a busking set at The Record Exchange. He told me he was nervous about busking, and needed to get it out of his system. People spilled all along both sides of the block. Everyone sang “Kathleen.” The neighbors called the po-po, who blocked the street a bit and just chilled out and listened. What a great first day of Treefort!
Bob Dylan covered this song, but it was never recorded.
Join us Friday at 11 am for a live session with Clover County, and Sunday at 4 pm for Deep Sea Diver!
