We loved having Jade Bird back in our studios. I told her how I’d first seen her perform at Bumbershoot years ago in Seattle. She said, “It’s good to be back. Good to be back WITHOUT MY EX FIANCÉ!” She laughed and went back into our green room with her white Taylor guitar.
She has a new EP called, “Burn the Hard Drive.” Regarding songwriting, Jade mentioned something she had heard from songwriter Laura Marling, about scarcity. She said that when you haven’t written in a while, it feels like it’s all pent up.
This is a brand new unreleased song from her upcoming 3rd album. This reminds me of early Patty Griffin, so good!
As far as things to look forward to, Jade says she is excited about Christmas. Also, she’s 27 and in love again. She’s moved from Austin to L.A. now. Glass Note Records will be releasing her new album some time next year, starting with a new single in January.
