Years ago during Covid, I had asked the Sarah Jarosz crew if they could do a session, but they were being careful. When I learned she was playing Boise again, I asked Tim if we might get her in. I was so excited when I’d learned she had confirmed!
Our intimate audience enjoyed Port of Subs sandwiches, and drinks from Idaho Kombucha. The ginger one was just what I needed that afternoon.
While they were setting up, I heard Sarah tell guitarist Seth Taylor “The 3rd episode of Curb is the best!” I think she might be watching “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Sarah Jarosz has had 10 Grammy nominations, and won 4 Grammys. She and guitarist Seth Taylor joined us for a great session. Sarah is playing an octave mandolin.
Sarah Jarosz lived in New York for 7 years, then moved to Texas. Her latest album is “Polaroid Lovers.” It was produced by Grammy winner Daniel Tashian, who has also worked with Kacey Musgraves.
Sarah Buxton helped co-write this song. She has written for tons of known country artists.
Sarah Jarosz has been a session player for artists like Amy Ray, David Crosby, and Bruce Cockburn, and she still considers herself a part of the supergroup ‘I’m With Her,” also featuring the amazing Sara Watkins of Nickelcreek (coming to Boise!), and Aoife O’Donovan.
My favorite album is “Blue Heron,” and it was so great to see the full band performing at Knitting Factory. Guitarist Seth Taylor has a really unique way of playing. I can’t describe it, but it was so great to see him perform live when I’d been hearing him all these years.
This is a song Sarah Jarosz wrote with Jon Randall.
As a bonus, I’m linking my favorite cover song of hers. When I got a photo with her, I was able to whisper how much I liked it. It’s a Ruston Kelly song, and she was excited to see his signature on our wall. I heart this so much.
